Black Friday always falls on the day after Thanksgiving. It’s on the Friday after the the fourth Thursday in November (usually also the forth Friday of the month but it can be third of fifth depending on when Thanksgiving is). Although it’s not a nationally recognized holiday, most businesses give employees the day off from work. It’s also the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season with retailers offering deep discounts to entice customers to come in early to their stores. Historically, stores have opened their doors earlier and earlier ever year (even starting at midnight), but the trend has moved to offer “Black Friday” discounts on Thanksgiving day.
