Black Friday always falls on the day after Thanksgiving. It’s on the Friday after the the fourth Thursday in November (usually also the forth Friday of the month but it can be third of fifth depending on when Thanksgiving is). Although it’s not a nationally recognized holiday, most businesses give employees the day off from work. It’s also the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season with retailers offering deep discounts to entice customers to come in early to their stores. Historically, stores have opened their doors earlier and earlier ever year (even starting at midnight), but the trend has moved to offer “Black Friday” discounts on Thanksgiving day. Offers have also extended to online stores with many retailers beginning to report year over year decreases in foot traffic but traffic increase to their online stores. Many Black Friday deals last through the weekend up until Cyber Monday which falls on the following Monday after Black Friday.

Black Friday in 2014 will be on November 28, 2014. It’s preceded by Thanksgiving in the United States and is known to be the unofficial start to the holiday/Christmas shopping season. On this day you’ll find many retailers offering some of their best deals of the year. Traditionally the discounts were exclusive to brick and mortar stores but in the last few years the offers have extended to online websites as well. Black Friday in 2017 will be on November 24th in the United States.  It always falls on the day after Thanksgiving and although it’s not an official holiday, many businesses are closed during the Thanksgiving weekend.  Black Friday is also known as the start of the holiday shopping season and has gained popularity internationally including in Canada, U.K., and Australia. This year Black Friday comes a few days earlier than in the past few years so that means you’ll have a few extra days to figure out why to buy for your significant other.

When it comes to shopping, many of the top retailers open their doors early on Black Friday and often have special “doorbuster” deals for those that get their early. Black Friday shopping has also extended beyond this day and you can often pick up BF deals as early as Thursday and all the way through Sunday. The following Monday after Black Friday is known as Cyber Monday where many online stores slash their prices. but in recent years many of the Black Friday deals can also be found online.

Black Friday in 2015 is on Friday November 27. It comes the day after Thanksgiving in the United States and is followed by Cyber Monday on the Monday after.   This year it comes a day earlier as last year which fell on the 28th of November.

Although it’s not a national holiday, most offices are closed in observance of Thanksgiving or, if there is no PTO (paid time off),  it’s a popular day for employees to take a day off from work to have a 4-day weekend. Black Friday is a also known as the unofficial start to the holiday shopping season with most of the top retailers offering extra discounts and special doorbuster deals. Traditionally the deals would be exclusive to customers show would come in-store as early as 4:00am, we’ve seen the trend extend to Thanksgiving day all the way through Sunday.  You can also find many of the same offers now listed at retailers websites.
